Here at Mindvalley, we recently moved closer to our goal of touching a billion lives, with the release of one of our highest quality courses to date, Extraordinary By Design.

As a transformational education company focused on bringing progressive education to the world, we wanted to create ONE truly incredible program that we could get out to anybody, anywhere, regardless of their income or financial position, and one that would provide our students with the fundamentals needed to live an extraordinary life.

With this in mind, Extraordinary By Design, Mindvalley’s most personal and powerful course yet, has been designed to allow personal growth and transformational education to spread around the world…

And we’re making it free for everyone.

One of the things that sparked us to create this course was feedback we got from teachers from around the world about how powerful our life-planning programs are.

From Mbeya, Tanzania, to rural India and Sedona, Arizona, we were surprised to see Mindvalley’s ideas being used by many students from around the world.

So we took key ideas from my book, The Code of the Extraordinary Mind, and from popular videos we’ve released such as the 3 Most Important Questions, and created a course designed to help everyone — from teenager to adult — re-envision the possibilities in their life.

To get you started, we wanted to share a video introducing you to Extraordinary By Design along with five short videos that highlight the key concepts in the course, and how they could help reframe your vision of yourself — and the world:

  • Introduction to Extraordinary By Design
  • Hack #1 — Redefine Goal Setting
  • Hack #2 — Understand the Culturescape
  • Hack #3 — Break the Brules
  • Hack #4— Distinguish Means Goals vs. End Goals
  • Hack #5 — Answer “The 3 Most Important Questions”

Once you’ve checked these out, simply click here to add Extraordinary By Design to your Mindvalley account — completely free.

Introduction To Extraordinary By Design

The goals we aim for are often not our own — but are decided for us, by society, before we even have a chance to think for ourselves.

In this video, you’ll learn a new word that will help you gain the ability to step outside many rules that restrict and hold you back in life. I explain his concept of “brules” (bulls*** rules) that hold us back from going after what we want… and how Extraordinary By Design will help you to question these, focus on your end goals, and to sculpt your life based on your core values.

Extraordinary By Design is beautifully designed and available on Mindvalley’s new learning platform, which allows learning on the go — either on your computer or on our mobile app. And you’ll participate in an online community where thousands of people share their own visions, goals, and missions in life so you can spark new incites on how you can make your own life into one that is truly extraordinary.

Hack #1 — Redefine Goal Setting

What does goal setting mean to you? As I explain in this preparation video for the free program, Extraordinary By Design, modern goal setting has strayed far from tapping into what truly excites us — and instead, advocates blindly following arbitrary “rules” society has prescribed.

Extraordinary By Design was crafted to completely reframe and update the concept of goal setting, and the course includes a powerful exercise that has helped thousands of people from all across the globe to hone in on their key passions and desires. With this course preparation video, you’ll discover that you can refine, crystallize, and dive deeper into the things that are genuinely important to you — and get rid of all that isn’t.

Hack #2 — Understand The Culturescape

In this short video, I further expand on my concept of the “culturescape”:

The invisible, but powerful forces of culture which permeate our everyday lives.

The culturescape includes understanding how the language we use, and the abstract constructs we’ve created, affect our lives and the way we live them. This is where I explain the difference between absolute truth and relative truth, and how the complexity of language has created subtle nuances in the way we communicate and interact with the world.

In this short video, you’ll also find out how I was personally influenced by — and eventually rejected — the culturescape.  Instead of following my passion, which is education, I initially succumbed to the safe ideas of what I “should” be doing — a trap that most people fall into. Although the culturescape is designed to keep us safe, it also leads to a limited life, unless you learn to break free of its constraints.

Hack #3 — Break the Brules

Modern goal setting — as explained in countless college courses or to high-school kids, and even young children — is really not about teaching you how to pursue what will help you lead an extraordinary life. Instead, it’s about teaching you to pursue common “Brules” (the bulls**t rules created by the culturescape that we adopt to simplify our understanding of the world) that often lead to you chasing things you’ll ultimately find do not really matter.

In the following video, I further discuss how words create our reality and I expand on my concept of “brules” (those “bulls*** rules”) that we have been drip-fed by society and, ultimately, we rarely question. Once we’ve been exposed to brules for long enough, they start to become ingrained in our consciousness — and eventually become the norm.

Instead, I explain how important it is to become aware of the brules in our lives and to constantly question them.

Hack #4 — Distinguish Means Goals vs. End Goals

Modern goal setting is skewed toward “means goals”: Goals that are designed to get us somewhere else. Means goals are the things society tells us we need to have in place to get happiness – things like hitting a certain income level, getting a specific promotion, fitting into that certain dress size, etc.

But I encourage you to focus instead on “ends goals”: the end result that would truly make you happy and align with your purpose. End goals are the beautiful, exciting rewards of being human on planet earth. They speak to your soul and bring joy in and of themselves.

One of the simplest and most powerful ways to feel happier is to work toward your ends goals — so you can have all the life experiences that you’ve ever dreamed of. In this short video, I detail my personal journey and how when I started to switch my focus from means goals to ends goals, everything in my life started falling into place.

Hack #5 — Answer The 3 Most Important Questions

The 3 Most Important Questions exercise is one of my most well-known — and most impactful — goal setting techniques. It is based on three simple questions: what would you like to experience, how would you like to grow, and how would you like to contribute?

Ask yourself, “If time and money didn’t matter and I didn’t have to seek anyone’s permission, what kinds of experiences would my soul crave?  You will realize what it is you desire. By taking this macro view, you’re able to to hone in on the kinds of experiences and moments you’d like to fill your life with, and stay focused on what’s truly important to you.

Then, you can ask yourself, “In order to have the experiences above, how do I have to grow? What sort of man or woman do I need to evolve into?” This may help you realize the skills you need to develop, or attributes you need to cultivate, in order to accomplish your end goals.

And lastly, ask yourself, “If I have the experiences I long for and have grown in these remarkable ways, then how can I give back to the world?” It is through contribution that we can serve our happiness and the world at the same time, and find our greatest fulfillment.

This powerful exercise has been completed by thousands of Mindvalley students the world over — and it has changed lives.

Traditional goal setting is dangerous. Extraordinary By Design unveils a fundamentally new way to think about your life and your goals.

When you look at your goals as tools to get the experiences that make you happy, grow rapidly, and contribute to the world — you can then break your life down into 12 distinct areas.

These 12 areas are so interconnected that when one is lacking, it will pull down the others. But when you elevate one, it with elevate your entire life.

That’s how you become Extraordinary By Design.
